WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Deputies are searching for a pit bull after they say two dogs attacked three people.
Deputies say the incident happened Wednesday morning in the 300 block of Shipyard Boulevard. They say a male and female pit bull ran up to the Bryant and Sons truck repair shop. Shawn Bryant, who works at the shop, says he was helping a customer in the lot when the pit bulls ran up and began nipping at him. He says the dogs began biting at his hands and calves. He says they also attacked the customers and his father, the autoshop owner.
“I went to pet one same as I’ve always done and he nipped at me,” Bryant said. “I figured he didn’t remember me and I kind of scared him, and then they were both trying to take chucks out of me and a customer of ours.”
The male pit bull was captured, but the female is still on the loose. Deputies say Animal Services Officers have set a trap to try to capture the female dog as well as increasing their patrol of that area.
Bryant says he has seen the dogs before, and they were friendly toward him in the past. He says the dogs bit through his thick work gloves, but Bryant says he has no ill feelings toward the dogs.
