BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County deputies are looking for a man who ran after they tried to serve warrants and wound up killing his dog.
Investigators say Tyler Gray Hughes, 21, took off into the woods when they tried to serve the warrants at 375 High Hills Drive in Shallotte this afternoon. That’s when they say his pit bull “Beast” charged Dep. Andrew Lentz, who fired two shots and killed the dog.
Deputies could not find Hughes.
He is wanted for multiple felonies, including two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny and larceny of a firearm.
The shooting of the dog is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards.
